Berry Picking & Farm Work-Seasonal ( November 2020 to May 2021)
We requires farm labourers / pickers to start in November 2020 and finish May 2021 on site or other sites in the surrounding area of Northern Tasmania.
Work will be primarily Berry Picking and Packing. There may be the occasional requirement to perform general farm work such as polytunnel construction and repair (skinning, roping etc) distribution of grow bags, irrigation works, fencing, cleaning up, pruning, trellising etc.
All work is performed under the Horticulture Award 2010. Harvest work such as picking and packing are performed under a Piecework agreement and are paid according to the quality and cleanliness standards stipulated by Hillwood Berries management. Your wage will be calculated through the quantity of trays of punnets that you have picked & packed fruit into and delivered to the Quality Control Station. General farm work will be paid as an hourly rate, remuneration is in line with Level 1 under the award (currently $24.36).
Important points to note:
Hours during the season can be long and you may likely be required to work weekends. The duration of the working days cannot be predicted as they are dictated by the quantity of fruit available on the day (which is largely weather dependent).
This will be a labour-intensive job, many people find Picking and Packing work repetitive. If you have never completed physically demanding tasks in your previous jobs, please consider this before you apply.
We are only looking to accept applicants who are available to work for the full (six) months, so please do not apply if you are only looking for a shorter-term position.
How to apply: If you are interested, kindly complete the online application form and you will be contacted via email if you are successful in proceeding to the next stage.
